Sylif

The Sylif - short for Synthetic Life Form - are the ultimate project from the Nalbi to fight the Viron spread. They were created with a similar reproduction behaviour (both a symbiotic and a non-symbiotic life cycles) and a natural desire to search and heal Viron-infected life forms (from plants to sentient beings).

The Sylif are by all means totally independent beings. The only control over them held by the Nalbi is the ability to shut down every single Sylif cell. Apart from that, they were set free to develop their own civilisation and set up an alliance with the Nalbi out of good will rather than fear.

Non-Symbiotic Cycle:
Sylifs are born from Genesis Spheres. They look like eggs that are made out of a hard metallic layer that encloses a long-life-support fluid. Genesis Spheres can contain only one individual, but they can support their individual for hundreds of years if left untouched.

Once the Sylifs hatch, they start looking for nourishment. Even though they are synthetic life forms, they cannot feed with non-living matter, such as mud or stones. However, all living matter is suitable as a nourishment for them. Reportedly, Sylifs seem to prefer vegetables rather than meat.

All sylifs carry a gland that releases a fluid with specific antibodies that fight the viron infection without damaging the host.

Symbiotic Cycle:
Every Sylif is composed of two sentience nano-chips, as if they were two different individuals. In one sylif, though, only one of them is capable of attaching to their brain. The other one is left in statis until they find a suitable reproduction host.

When they capture the host, they inject the static nano-chip directly inside the host's brain and leaves him untouched.

After a 2 to 5 days incubation period, the host starts to develop the 'infection'. Each nano-chip contains all knowledge of the Sylif and the host almost instantly becomes aware of what goes on beyond. He is then left to choose between becoming a Sylif or resuming his normal existence. If the latter is chosen, the nano-chip is able of detecting the rejection and automatically expells itself from the host's body.

This is called Moral Assimilation.

Society
Over hundreds of years, the Sylif have developed to a state nearly as advanced as their creators. While their sole intellect prevented them to evolve further, Moral Assimilation made them capable of accomplishing feats such as developing their own vehicles and building a working society.

Even though they do not follow standard governamentall labelling, the Sylif have their own way of controlling themselves, called the Mainframe. The Sylif Mainframe is the collective consciousness that bonds every Sylif with the Provider. Providers are more evolved Sylifs that are able to connect to more vital sectors of the Mainframe. They are respected by lesser sylifs and they must answer to the Server. The Server is The most advanced sylif form. They can control the mainframe completely, guiding it through evolution.
Among the most famous providers we can highlight the Engineer, who controls city and vehicle creation, the Seer, a mathematic computer that can consider an immense number of variables to make predictions of the future and the Scout, a reconnaissance Provider who controls exploring and mapping across the starts.
