The One God

It is widely believed that there is one deity that controls the universe. The One God is the godly creature who created everything that exists. He roams the universe feeding on planets. He's seeked by three comets.

Reports say he has the power to create life from rocks, ice and fire (thus the reference to the comets). As well as the power to give life, he also has the power to create life. There is a chain of belief that states the One God is visible only when consuming a planet, and that it uses its tentacles to drain the planet's life force, leaving only a barren wasteland which won't be able to sustain itself for a long time and will explode or desintegrate.

The vast majority of believers state that the One God is a physical, corporal, biological over-sentient entity with enormous power (reports include telepathy and invisibility, leading the belief that it is made of dark matter).

Most of the Skeptical scientificists believe that the One God is not only one being, but a highly developed race that has no definite form, thus making itself look like a giant mass.

THE CHALLENGE

Based on the description above, create anything that in your mind represents the One God. You're free do create creatures, ships, vehicles or buildings until the end of the year 2009. This is not exactly a contest, although I will choose the best creation and feature it on my page and this website.

So let your creativity command and make the God in your mind!

The Athena

The Athena is a masterpiece of Enkellian-Nalbian design. She's also the first major scale ship built by the partnership.

Named after the greek goddess of wisdom, the Athena's first role was to enhance enkellian colonies. For that purpose she was geared with the latest terraforming technology from the Nalbi, as atmosphere stabilisers and terrain levelling tools.

For a long time, the ship was used to make enkellian colonies a more profitable and a better place to live, but when this task reached an end, The Athena's crew disconnected itself from both enkellian and nalbian empires and begun to jorney the galaxy in search of new technology, new cultures, information and the truth in general.

It wasn't long until she became a beacon of justice, truth and peace. Almost a myth, the Athena is welcomed when it lands in most systems as they are aware that The Athena's presence is almost a sign that help to any sort of problem has arrived.

The Nalbi

Masters of research, technology and engineering, the Nalbi have developed quickly in planet Eurimedia. They're tall slim individuals of white bluish skin. As opposed to mammals, the Nalbi lay eggs that are taken into Hatching Stations and are given back to their families (or not) for raising.

The Nabi Kingdom
For many centuries, the nalbi hada proper kingdom, ruled by Kings, mostly from the House of Ket. After the development of civilisation and their contact with the enkeli, they started to believe in democracy, but honour kept them from changing drastically. The monarchy was then reorganised into a parlament, so the nalbi have now both a King and a Prime Minister.

For cause of debate, the Nalbi have estabillished a Council. The Council is not an official governamental institution, but many politicians take their issues to the Council for advice, so it has a distinctive power among the nalbians.

Nalbian Research, Technology and Engineering
While the Enkeli hold the monopoly of colonisation and terraforming abilities, and the Iblis are masters of military equipment, the nalbians are known for having the greatest research laboratories, and are excellent builders and engineers.

Aware of that feat, the enkeli have asked for a research and construction alliance, called The Enkellian-Nalbian Creative Partnership (better known only as E&N or E-N, as their logo suggest). It was first thought as something that would maximise enkellian spice production on less profitable colonies, but as their teams grew, the partnership became a full-fledged engineering and construction enterprise.

The Enkeli

Habiting planet Nebesis, the enkeli's first contact with the human race was during Earth's middle ages, when one of the first enkeli starships accidentally crashed on earth after being sucked by a wormhole.

Because of enkeli's generally white/cream appearance and their wings, the humans thought they were angels and begun worshipping them and drawing figures of them. Once they were done with the repairs, they flew back to their home planet, leaving their presence on earth as a 'divine presence sign'.

The enkeli are among one of the most diplomatic races, who contributed to many important facts of the galactic history, as the galactic mapping and general safe spot during times of local wars.

The Enkeli Republic
Since tribal stage, the Enkeli didn't like the idea of a single ruler, preferring to embrace democracy from their earliest roots. As the civilisation begun to develop, they estabillished a president and a senate, both with similar powers.

Although they are very diplomatic and political, the Enkeli have a relatively considerable social distinction as they are known by exploring colonies. In general, there is an Enkelian High Society, mostly set at Nebesis, and a plebean section of the civilisation, a working-class based on Spice mining through the several Enkellian systems.

Colonisation
Because of the 'Enkellian-Iblisic' Treaty, 80% of all the spice-productive systems within a radius of 200 parsecs are colonised by the enkeli. While strategic planets suffer a population colonisation, the richest and more productive rare-spice planets are often used only for exploration, lacking proper colonial attention. Because of this, many colonies often go on strikes. The Enkeli Senate have recently voted for a Colony Development Programme that releases a large ammount of Sporebucks for the cause.

The Viron

Tribal phase Viron individualThe Viron are an insect-like semi-symbiotical Hive-minded race believed to have sprouted in planet Cortalia. They have purple skin and six limbs, two pair of crown-like horns, spikes on their backs and two pairs of fangs (one on their mouth and one on the tip of their abdomen).

The Viron may have two life cycles, one of which is symbiotical (thus the semi-symbiotical denomination).

Non-symbiotical life cycle
  • Egg stage (about three or four days)
  • Viron hatchling: small serpentine body with two talons for movement and one mouth for feeding. After they hatch, they wander by themselves to hunt and find a suitable pupating site.
  • After about a week and a half, a swarmer (four-limbed viron with a long tail and a single spike on the top of its backbone) is born.
  • Swarmers then start to look for others and create a Hive.
  • After enough feeding, they grow into a "pure" Viron individual.

Symbiotical life cycle
  • No eggs. The Viron Spore can be seeded by any Viron individual or vessel and, as it's microscopical and does not cause harm to the vessel, it often goes undetected.
  • When they find a suitable place to start growing (any sort of living being), they settle as a larva in the brain of their host. Only one larva is able to grow per host.
  • There are few collateral effects for the host while having a Viron larva in their brains. They feed more often, with an increase of about 15 percent. Their five senses are also increased.
  • As the larva matures and keeps contact with the host's brain, it starts to be able to communicate with him. If the individual is not sentient, it feels a natural peace and adoration to any viron it meets, especiall the queen and the Hive as it starts to become part of the Hive-mind. If the individual is sentient, it realises there's something going on inside him. He is aware that he shares his body with another being and, as the non sentient beings, they become part of the Hive-mind.
  • If the host tries to remove the larva from its brain, he will eventually die, as the larva attaches itself to many vital parts of the brain.
  • This process is called Symbiotic Assimilation.

Common introduction

So, the blog's here to aid in the universe I've been creating for my Spore game...

Everyone must do that... I'm doing that to keep track of my own creativity and maybe put some use to it later on...

I'll be uploading a lot in the first days, so expect some heavy reading... I'll try to catch some screenshots to go along with the descriptions (of the races, for instance).
