The Caipora

The Caipora (meaning: Guardians of the Forest) is a race that comes from the second forest-moon Ibicy (meaning: Mother Earth). They are short mammals with greenish-brown skin.

Abilities
The Caiporas are not the smartest race in the galaxy, but they are certainly the most sensitive one, possessing the extraordinary ability of communicating with all life and manipulating it.

Their ability is limited by the awareness level of the creature they're manipulating, so the more sentient, the less capable of manipulation they have. For example, they can bend wood, but they can't bend a human being.

Regarding communication, the Caipora can bond with living beings to a point in which they understand their needs and wishes. Thus they're advanced their technology level to protect and defend those who cannot express themselves.

Society
The Caipora live in a society that is both very complex and very simple. Initially it seems tribal, but the relationship lines between every single caipora individual are so fine that a more complex study is required. They are what one would call a despotic communist society. Every caipora is free to do whatever he pleases. Generally they answer to two major figures (The Paje and the Caçique), but those don't have any official institutional power over them.

The Caçique are similar to chieftains. Most caiporas respect them for being outstanding warriors and they have some political power in their midst.

The Paje is an older caipora, maybe even a late caçique who is so attuned to nature that they possess magical powers. They can heal and see the future.
